Throughout October, Kings Family Restaurant Joins American Cancer Society Fundraising Efforts at all 25 of its Locations

Pittsburgh, September 27, 2017– Celebrating 25 years of saving lives nationwide, the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will be held Saturday, October 21 at Highmark Stadium at Station Square to support the fight against the second leading cause of cancer death in women and ensure no one faces breast cancer alone.  Leading up to the walk, starting October 1 – 31, Kings Family Restaurants and its 25 locations will be fundraising, selling donation cards.

“We all know someone special who is fighting breast cancer, whether it be a food server at Kings, friend, or mom,” said Doug Kaminski, Controller, Kings Family Restaurant. “Our family of employees and customers stand behind this fight, and strength comes in numbers. We welcome all of our patrons to join us in fundraising efforts and walk for the American Cancer Society.”

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Pittsburgh is in its eighth year.  Since 2011, local participants have raised more than $1.25 million dollars toward the fight for a world without breast cancer.  Dollars raised by Making Strides supporters help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle by funding innovative breast cancer research; promoting education and risk reduction; and providing comprehensive patient support to those who need it most.  In addition to local programs like Road To Recovery and Look Good Feel Better, the American Cancer Society currently has $1.4 million invested in breast cancer research grants in Pittsburgh, PA.

According to the American Cancer Society Cancer Facts & Figures 2017, an estimated 252,710 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,610 will die from the disease this year.  Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Greater Pittsburgh, invites all the survivors in Pittsburgh to join them for the Survivor VIP hour at this year’s event.
